Gold Plated Gilded 1935-D Buffalo Nickel Denver Mint 5C Indian Head Novelty Coin
Offered here is a gold plated (gilded) Buffalo nickel, a genuine U.S. Indian Head / Buffalo five cent piece that has been gold plated after it left the Mint. It makes a bright, eye-catching novelty or gift piece.
Please note: the gold plating is an aftermarket finish, not a Mint product. The coin is copper-nickel underneath and is not gold or silver. Plated coins are altered and are not collected as normal numismatic coins.
Date and mint: 1935-D, struck at the Denver Mint. The date is weak under the plating and the D mint mark below FIVE CENTS is small and filled by the plating, so neither shows clearly in the photos; the D has been confirmed in hand.
Underlying wear: about Good. The rims are full and LIBERTY, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and FIVE CENTS are readable, with E PLURIBUS UNUM partly visible. The date is weak, and the buffalo's head and horn and the Indian's hair are worn mostly flat. The plating brightens the surfaces, so this is an approximate description, not a grade from a grading service.
Condition, please read: the plating has a grainy, textured look with scattered small marks and some thin lines in the fields. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: 75% copper, 25% nickel, gold plated
Condition: Ungraded (raw coin, not certified)
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
