Offered here is a genuine cast brass 1 cash coin of the Qianlong Emperor (reigned 1736-1795), China's Qing dynasty. The obverse reads Qian Long Tong Bao (乾隆通寶), top, bottom, right, left. The reverse carries the Manchu mint mark, with Boo ("mint") on the left and the mint name on the right. The mint name is weakly cast and worn; it appears to be one of the two Beijing Board mints (Board of Revenue, Boo Chiowan, or Board of Works, Boo Yuwan), but we do not claim either. A classic piece of Chinese history, over 200 years old.
Grade: Fine (F). All four obverse characters are complete and readable, with the strokes worn soft; the Manchu Boo is clear in outline. Rims are complete.
Condition, please read: in fairness, both sides have dark brown to black patina patches on the rims and fields, and gray-green granular encrustation (light corrosion deposits) around the characters. There are light rim marks and small nicks from circulation, and the square hole is slightly irregular, as cast. No cracks or bends seen. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
