Offered here is a 2004-S Lincoln Memorial cent in Proof, struck at the San Francisco Mint for collectors and issued in the 2004 proof sets. The S mint mark sits below the date. Proofs are struck on specially prepared dies and planchets, giving mirror-like fields with frosted portrait and Memorial devices.

Toning: the obverse shows attractive orange, red and purple toning, strongest across Lincoln's face and around the rim, set against the mirror fields. The reverse is mostly bright red-orange with lighter color. Please view all the photos; toning colors are hard to capture and look different as the coin is tilted in the light.

Grade: Proof. A raw (uncertified) proof with no wear, mirror fields and frosted devices on both sides. Not graded by a grading service; please judge from the photos.

Condition, please read: in fairness, there is a tiny dark fleck in the obverse field between the bow tie and the date, and a small spot in the right reverse field near the rim beside the Memorial. No other marks of note are visible in the photos. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
