Offered here is a 1991-S Jefferson nickel proof struck at the San Francisco Mint, with the S mint mark just below the date on the obverse. Proof nickels were struck for collector proof sets only, with specially polished dies and planchets; 2,867,787 were made in 1991.
Grade: Choice Proof, Cameo. The strike is full, with sharp hair curls, coat collar and Monticello's columns, windows and dome. The portrait, building and lettering are frosted against deep mirror fields on both sides, giving a strong cameo contrast.
Condition, please read: in fairness, there is a short thin diagonal line in the reverse field below PLURIBUS, and a thin line through MONTICELLO between the I and the C running down toward FIVE CENTS. These may be on the coin or on the holder's clear window. There are also scattered tiny light specks in the mirror fields. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: 75% copper, 25% nickel (not silver)
Designer: Felix Schlag
Condition: Ungraded (raw coin, not certified)
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
