Offered here is a 1979-S Susan B. Anthony dollar from the San Francisco Mint, a business strike (not a proof) from the first year of issue of the small-size dollar. The S-mint business strike had a mintage of about 109.6 million, well under half that of the 1979-D. The SBA dollar was the first circulating U.S. coin to portray a real woman, and its reverse carries the Apollo 11 eagle landing on the moon, adapted from the Eisenhower dollar. The S mint mark is to the left of the bust.
Grade: Uncirculated (BU). No wear on the high points: the hair above the forehead, the cheek, and the eagle's head, breast and wing feathers show full detail, and original mint luster covers the fields on both sides under light gray-gold toning. The date, LIBERTY, mint mark and reverse lettering are all bold.
Condition, please read: in fairness, as with most business-strike SBA dollars there are scattered bag marks and a few light scratches, mostly on the cheek, neck and obverse fields and in the reverse fields and on the eagle. The toning is light and a little uneven, slightly darker near the rims. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
The coin comes in a clear round plastic capsule, shown in the photos. It is a raw coin, not certified.

Mintage: 109,576,000
Composition: copper-nickel clad (75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper core); not silver
