Offered here is a 1978 Eisenhower dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). 1978 was the final year of the Eisenhower dollar before it was replaced by the Susan B. Anthony dollar in 1979. Frank Gasparro's design shows President Eisenhower on the front and the Apollo 11 mission insignia, an eagle landing on the moon, on the back.
About Uncirculated (AU). The design is sharp throughout: the ear, the hairline and the eagle's wing and tail feathers are well defined, the lettering and the moon craters are crisp, and the rims are full. Light rub on the highest points of the cheek, the hair above the ear and the eagle's breast keeps it from a full mint-state call.
Condition, please read: in fairness, the coin has numerous light scratches and contact marks on both sides, most noticeable on Eisenhower's cheek, jaw and head and on the eagle, plus a few small rim nicks and a tiny dark spot in the field near the B of LIBERTY. Natural color. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: copper-nickel clad (no silver)
Mintage: 25,702,000
Condition: Ungraded (raw coin, not certified)
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
