Approximate grade: AU (About Uncirculated), with strong detail in the hair and on the eagle, bright surfaces and natural light toning. Please note: there are light scratches and contact marks on the obverse, mostly in the hair, on the cheek and in the left field near the face, plus a few small marks on the reverse fields. Please see the photos. Composition: copper-nickel clad (not silver) Denomination: 50 cents About the series: The Kennedy half dollar was rushed into production after President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in November 1963 and released in 1964, with an obverse by Gilroy Roberts and a presidential-seal reverse by Frank Gasparro. The 1964 halves are 90% silver and the 1965–1970 issues 40% silver; later circulation strikes are copper-nickel clad.
