1965 SMS Lincoln Memorial Cent 1C PCGS SP63RD Special Mint Set Red Penny CoinIn 1965 the U.S. Mint suspended proof sets and instead struck Special Mint Set (SMS) coinage at the San Francisco Assay Office, with a satiny specimen finish — 2,360,000 sets were made, and 1965 cents exist only in business-strike and SMS form. PCGS has certified this exact coin SP63RD — a full Red specimen striking with bright mint color. The photos show the coin and both sides of the sealed PCGS holder, including the label with the certificate number for easy verification.
