Offered here is a 1959 Roosevelt dime struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark), one of the last years of the 90% silver Roosevelt dimes before the switch to clad in 1965.
Grade: Very Fine (VF), circulated, our opinion. The hair above the ear is worn but shows separation, the ear is outlined, and on the reverse the torch, olive branch and oak branch are clear with some wear on the high points.
Strike: under angled light the portrait shows a flat, shelf-like outline along the back of the head, neck and bust, and the reverse leaves and torch show a similar flat border. This look is typical of strike (machine) doubling, a common minting effect that is not a doubled die. We are not selling it as a die variety or error; please judge it from the photos.
Condition notes: light scratches and marks across the portrait, heaviest on the cheek and in the hair, a small dark mark in the hair above the ear, and scattered marks with a slightly grainy look in the reverse fields. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
