Offered here is a 1958-D Lincoln Wheat cent, struck at the Denver Mint. 1958 was the last year of the wheat ear reverse, used since 1909 and replaced by the Lincoln Memorial design in 1959.

The date 1958 and the D mint mark below it are clear on the obverse. IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY are bold, and ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM are sharp on the reverse.

Grade: Extremely Fine (XF), Brown with traces of red. The lines in both wheat ears are complete and separated, the hair shows separate waves, and the ear and bow tie are distinct. Light wear is on the high points of the cheek, jaw and top of the hair. The surfaces are a warm brown with hints of original red in the protected areas.

Condition, please read: in fairness, there are several light hairline scratches, mainly in the obverse field between the back of the head and IN GOD WE TRUST, and on the coat and shoulder. The reverse has a few faint lines and some small dark spots, mostly around ONE CENT. There is also a tiny light fleck on the coat below the bow tie. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.

Composition: 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc
Designer: Victor D. Brenner
Condition: Ungraded (raw coin, not certified)
