Offered here is a 1957 British Caribbean Territories (Eastern Group) 25 cents, KM# 6. The reverse shows Sir Francis Drake's ship, the Golden Hind, and the obverse carries the first crowned portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Cecil Thomas. Only about 800,000 were struck in 1957, one of the smaller dates of this 1955-1965 British West Indies dollar series that circulated across the eastern Caribbean islands.
Grade: Fine. Even circulation wear. All legends, the date and both 25s are full and clear, and the ship's masts and much of the rigging still show. The sails and hull are worn smooth on top, and the Queen's hair and crown are worn to outlines with some curls still separated.
Condition, please read: there are small nicks on the obverse rim, the most visible at upper left beside the crown, and a few minor rim bumps elsewhere. Both sides show scattered light scratches and marks from circulation, including fine lines across the sails. There are small dark spots on the rims and edge, and a small reddish spot to the left of the ship's hull. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
