Offered here is a 1956-D Lincoln Wheat cent, struck at the Denver Mint. 1956 was one of the last three years of the wheat ear reverse, which was replaced by the Lincoln Memorial design in 1959.
The date 1956 and the D mint mark are clear below the date on the obverse. IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY are bold, and ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM are sharp on the reverse.
Grade: Extremely Fine (XF), Brown. The lines in both wheat ears are complete and well defined, the hair shows separate detail, and the ear and bow tie are distinct. Light wear is on the high points of the cheek, jaw and top of the hair.
Condition, please read: in fairness, there are several small dark spots on both sides, the most noticeable in the obverse field in front of Lincoln's forehead, on the coat below LIBERTY, and scattered across the reverse. There are also a few small marks, including a short line in the obverse field in front of the chin, and a small nick on the reverse rim near the right wheat ear. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc
Designer: Victor D. Brenner
Condition: Ungraded (raw coin, not certified)
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
