Offered here is a 1948-D Franklin half dollar struck at the Denver Mint in 90% silver. 1948 is the first year of the Franklin half dollar (1948 to 1963), and the 1948-D had a mintage of just over 4 million. The D mint mark is just above the beam of the Liberty Bell on the reverse.
Grade: About Uncirculated (AU). Bright, mostly white surfaces with plenty of original mint luster. The hair curls and strands are sharp and separated, and the lines across the bottom of the bell are strong. Only a touch of friction shows on the highest points of the cheek and hair.
Condition, please read: in fairness, this coin has numerous contact marks and fine scratches on both sides, including a few longer scratches in the obverse fields and on the portrait, and scattered marks and light scratches on the bell. No rim damage seen. Please look at all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: 90% silver, 10% copper (0.3617 troy oz actual silver weight)
Mintage: 4,028,600
Condition: ungraded, raw coin
The coin ships in a protective holder.
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
