Offered here is a genuine 1945 Mercury (Winged Liberty Head) dime struck in 90% silver at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). 1945 is the final year of Adolph A. Weinman's Mercury dime, one of the most admired US coin designs, before it was replaced by the Roosevelt dime in 1946.
Grade: Extremely Fine (XF). The wing feathers are clear and the hairline is bold except by the cheekbone. On the reverse, most rods of the fasces are bold and the diagonal bands are bold, flat only at the center. The center bands are not split, so this is not a Full Bands coin. Light, even gray surfaces.
Condition, please read: the coin shows light circulation wear on the high points and a number of light scratches and contact marks, mostly on Liberty's face, cheek and neck and in the obverse field, with a few lighter marks on the reverse field. No holes, bends or rim damage. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Year: 1945
Mint: Philadelphia (no mint mark)
Composition: 90% silver, 10% copper (0.07234 oz silver)
Condition: ungraded, raw coin
The coin ships in a protective holder.
