Offered here is a 1936 Canada 25 cents (KM# 24a) in 80% silver, with the crowned bust of King George V by Sir E. B. MacKennal. 1936 is the last year of the George V quarter: the King died in January 1936, and the type was replaced by the George VI caribou design in 1937. Regular-issue mintage was about 972,000.
Grade: Good to Very Good. On the obverse the full legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP: is readable, the crown and its jewelled band are outlined with some jewels still showing, and the ear and robe folds are visible. The reverse is weaker: the crown, wreath and bow are all outlined, 25 and 1936 are clear, but the first letters of CENTS and CANADA are worn down into the field.
Condition, please read: even circulation wear on both sides with scattered small marks and fine hairlines, a small nick on the obverse rim at about 10 o'clock, and a short line in the field between CANADA and the date. Natural gray silver tone with deeper tone around the devices. No holes or bends seen. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: 80% silver, 20% copper (5.83 g, about 0.150 oz actual silver weight)
Diameter: 23.5 mm
Condition: ungraded, raw coin
The coin ships in a protective holder.
