Offered here is a Kingdom of Egypt 10 milliemes of King Fuad I (reigned as king 1922-1936), the fez portrait type, KM# 347. The obverse shows Fuad facing left in his tall fez, with the Arabic legend "Fuad al-Awwal, Malik Misr" (Fuad the First, King of Egypt). The reverse carries a large Arabic numeral 10 with "millimat" (milliemes) above, inside the flowing calligraphy of "al-Mamlaka al-Misriya" (the Kingdom of Egypt). The diamond-shaped device beside the 1 is the Arabic zero of the "10", part of the design.
Date: 1933 (AH 1352), Heaton mint. This type was struck in only three years: 1929 (AH 1348, Budapest), 1933 (AH 1352) and 1935 (AH 1354). All 1933 coins were struck by the Heaton mint in Birmingham, England (H mint mark), with a mintage of just 1,500,000, and 1933 is generally regarded as the scarcest of the three dates. The small date numerals are worn and read under magnification; they may be hard to see in the photos.
Grade: Fine. The portrait, fez and both obverse legends are bold and complete, with wear on the face, cheek and fez. The reverse calligraphy and the numeral 10 are clear; the small date numerals and finer lettering are worn but readable under magnification.
Condition, please read: in fairness, the coin has many light scratches and hairlines on both sides, including longer scratches across the fez, face and chest on the obverse, and scattered marks and light granularity in the reverse fields. Even gray toning. No holes or rim damage seen. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: copper-nickel
Diameter: about 23 mm
Condition: ungraded, raw coin
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
