1927 Lincoln Wheat Cent 1C BU WOODY Wood Grain Toned Improper Alloy Mix

1927 Lincoln Wheat Cent from the Philadelphia Mint (no mintmark) in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, showing the popular WOODY wood-grain appearance. The streaked, wood-grain toning is easy to see in the photos and shows no signs of circulation wear.

A woody cent gets its look from an improper alloy mix in the planchet (the blank), which leaves wood-like streaks in the copper. Woodies are sought after by Lincoln cent collectors, and this one is a nice example. The 1927 Philadelphia cent has a mintage of 144,440,000.

About the series: the Lincoln cent, designed by Victor David Brenner, was introduced in 1909 to mark the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, the first regular U.S. coin to show a real person. The wheat ears reverse was used until 1958.

BOURNE2TREASURE
WHO WE ARE Bourne2Treasure is a family-owned business based in Dayton, TN, proud to be celebrating our 25th year in operation. Along the way we’ve earned over 27,000 pieces of feedback as a seller.
SHIPPING Every coin we sell ships in protective packaging — no exceptions. The exact container depends on the shipping class: for example, our Standard Envelope option is limited to a maximum of 1/4" thickness, so a bubble mailer isn’t used there. Instead, coins travel in a vinyl flip, a thick baggie, or a cardboard flip, whichever best protects that particular coin. We ship daily, Monday through Friday, excluding all USPS holidays.
RETURNS / GUARANTEE We maintain (unless otherwise noted on items like bullion) a 30-day, FREE-to-you return policy. All we want is happy customers — if you don’t like what we send, just send it back, free of charge.
QUESTIONS? CONTACT US Contact us Monday–Friday, 9–5 EST, with any questions or concerns. Our number one goal is happy customers who buy from us time and time again. If you ever have an issue, please let us know — and remember, our return policy above has you covered.
GRADING DISCLAIMER We arrive at an approximate grade using a combination of our own years of experience and, increasingly, Artificial Intelligence (AI). We are not a professional grading service, and any grade shown is only an approximation — please make your own determination based on the photos provided.
