1925 P Standing Liberty Quarter 90% Silver VG Full Date First Year Recessed Date
Offered here is a 1925 Standing Liberty quarter struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark), in 90% silver. 1925 is the first year of the recessed date: the Mint sank the date into the base that year so it would stop wearing off, and this coin has a full, clear date. This is the Type 2 design. The small "M" to the right of the date is designer Hermon MacNeil's initial.
Grade: VG (Very Good). All four digits of the date are complete. LIBERTY and the stars beside the gateway are clear, IN GOD is readable and WE TRUST is weak. The reverse lettering and the eagle are clear, with a little feather separation in the wing. Liberty's chest and the shield are worn smooth. The coin has natural toning, gray-silver on the devices with darker gold-brown in the obverse fields.
Condition, please read: in fairness, there are dark spots around the obverse rim and many small dark specks on Liberty's figure and shield, plus a few light scratches on the eagle's near wing. No rim damage. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: 90% silver, 10% copper (0.1808 troy oz actual silver weight)
Mintage: 12,280,000
Condition: ungraded, raw coin
The coin ships in a protective holder.
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
