1925-D Buffalo Nickel 5C Denver Mint Better Date Low Mintage Indian Head AG
Offered here is a 1925-D Buffalo (Indian Head) nickel, struck at the Denver Mint. Mintage was only 4,450,000, a small fraction of the 35 million struck at Philadelphia that year, which makes the 1925-D a better date that Buffalo nickel collectors need to fill the set.
The D mint mark is plain below FIVE CENTS on the reverse. The reverse is the stronger side: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and FIVE CENTS are full and stand clear of the rim, and some fur detail remains on the bison's head and shoulder.
Grade: About Good (AG). On the obverse, the last two digits of the date (25) are clear while the 19 is worn nearly flat, and LIBERTY blends into the rim. The horn on the bison is worn away. The reverse alone would grade higher, but the date sets the grade.
Condition, please read: there are green spots of corrosion on the obverse, mostly in front of the face, around the mouth and chin and near the rim by LIBERTY, with a few dark spots in the field behind the head. A long, thin scratch runs diagonally across the top of the head toward the forehead. The reverse has light marks consistent with circulation. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: 75% copper, 25% nickel
Condition: Ungraded (raw coin, not certified)
