1922-D Peace Silver Dollar $1 AU About Uncirculated Denver Mint 90% Silver Toned
Offered here is a 1922-D Peace Silver Dollar struck at the Denver Mint (D mint mark on the reverse, left of the eagle's tail feathers). Designed by Anthony de Francisci to mark the peace after World War I, the Peace dollar is 90% silver and contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver.
Grade: About Uncirculated (AU), raw and ungraded. The hair above the ear still shows separate strands with only light flatness on the very top (Peace dollars of this era are often softly struck there), and the eagle's wing feathers are well defined with light friction on the high points. Frosty luster remains in the fields.
Toning: light golden and rose toning, heavier toward the rims.
In fairness: there are dark speckled spots (carbon/toning spots) in the field below the neck, running from the bust down to the date, and scattered small contact marks on the cheek, neck and fields, as is normal for silver dollars that were stored and handled in bags. Please see the photos, which are the best description.
