Offered here is a genuine 1912-S Barber dime, struck at the San Francisco Mint (S mint mark below the wreath on the reverse). Only 3,420,000 were minted, a fraction of the Philadelphia output that year. Designed by Charles E. Barber and struck in 90% silver from 1892 to 1916, the Barber dime is a classic of early 20th century U.S. coinage.
Grade: Good. Liberty's portrait is in clear outline, with LIBERTY on the headband worn away as expected for the grade. The rims are full all the way around, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date 1912 are bold and clear. On the reverse, the wreath is fully outlined with some grain and leaf detail remaining, ONE DIME is bold, and the S mint mark is clear.
Condition, please read: in fairness, the reverse has a long thin scratch from the left side of the wreath across the field above ONE, a few finer scratches around ONE DIME, and scattered small dark spots on the wreath. The obverse shows light marks and a few small dark specks from circulation. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
