Offered here is a sharp 1907 Indian Head cent from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). With more than 108 million struck, 1907 is the highest mintage year of the entire Indian cent series, coming just two years before the Lincoln cent replaced it.
Grade: XF (Extremely Fine). The feathers are bold, with center lines and barbs showing on nearly every feather and wear only on the tips, and the ribbon stands apart from the hair. On the reverse the shield lines are sharp and unblended, and the oak wreath, bow and arrows show light, even wear with the leaf detail intact. Bold date and legends, full rims with denticles all the way around.
Condition, please read: the letters of LIBERTY on the headband are soft and hard to make out in the photos. There is a small dark spot (pit) in the feathers behind the ear, a tiny pit inside the 0 of the date, and a fine scratch across the lower headband toward the ribbon. Darker toning around the date and along the lower left rim, and a small spot on the reverse wreath to the left of the shield. Scattered light marks and hairlines as expected for a circulated coin. Medium brown with attractive iridescent pink, blue and gold toning that shows when the coin is tilted in the light. Please look at all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 108,138,618
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.
The coin ships in a protective holder.
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
