Offered here is a sharp, nicely toned 1907 Indian Head cent from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). With more than 108 million struck, 1907 is the highest mintage year of the entire Indian cent series, coming just two years before the Lincoln cent replaced it.

Grade: AU (About Uncirculated). Every feather shows its center line and barbs right out to the tips, LIBERTY reads on the headband, the diamonds on the ribbon show, and the ribbon stands fully apart from the hair. On the reverse the shield lines are all separate and the oak wreath, acorns, bow and arrows are bold with only light wear on the high points. Bold date and legends, full rims with denticles all the way around.

Toning: straight on, the coin is an even medium brown. Tilted in the light it comes alive with rose, violet, blue and gold iridescent toning on both sides, as the angled photos show.

Condition, please read: there are numerous fine scratches and hairlines on the portrait, mainly across the cheek, jaw and neck, with more scattered through the obverse fields. The reverse has lighter hairlines and a few small marks in the fields. Please look at all the photos, which are the best description.

Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 108,138,618
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.

The coin ships in a protective holder.
