Offered here is a sharp 1907 Indian Head cent from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). With more than 108 million struck, 1907 is the highest mintage year of the entire Indian cent series, coming just two years before the Lincoln cent replaced it.
Grade: AU (About Uncirculated). A very well detailed coin: every feather shows its full center line and barbs right out to the tips, LIBERTY reads in full on the headband, and the ribbon stands fully apart from the hair. On the reverse the shield lines are all separate and the oak wreath, acorns and bow are bold, with satiny mint luster still showing across the fields. Bold date and legends, full rims with denticles all the way around.
Condition, please read: there is mottled dark spotting across the obverse, heaviest on the cheek, neck and lower hair, with lighter spots on the reverse in the left wreath and below CENT. There is a small nick on the rim at the right edge of the obverse, beside AMERICA, and scattered light marks. Viewed straight on the coin is medium red-brown with tan and rose tones; tilted in the light, the obverse spotting looks darker while the reverse glows with rose-pink luster. Please look at all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 108,138,618
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.
The coin ships in a protective holder.
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
