Offered here is a sharp, 120-year-old 1906 Indian Head cent from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark), struck just three years before the Indian cent was replaced by the Lincoln cent.

Grade: XF+ (Extremely Fine, upper end). The feathers are bold, with center lines and barbs showing on every feather and wear only on the tips. The ribbon stands apart from the hair, and the hair curls and cheek show light, even wear. On the reverse the shield lines are crisp and unblended, and the oak wreath, bow and arrows show leaf veins and light wear on the high points. Bold date and legends, full rims with sharp denticles all the way around.

Condition, please read: the letters of LIBERTY on the headband are partly soft; they can be read, but not boldly. There are a few tiny dark specks in the fields (most noticeable above the headdress and near OF), a few light marks on the cheek and headband, and a small dark spot on the reverse near the shield. Scattered light marks as expected for a circulated coin. Medium brown straight on; when tilted in the light the coin shows warm coppery-red and rose highlights on the devices and around the legends. Please look at all the photos, which are the best description.

Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 96,022,255
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.

The coin ships in a protective holder.
