Offered here is a 1905 Indian Head cent from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark), struck in bronze in the final years of the Indian cent series, which ended in 1909.
Grade: Extremely Fine (XF). All seven letters of LIBERTY on the headband are complete and clear. Every headdress feather is separate with inner feather lines, the ribbon stands apart from the hair, and some diamond detail shows on the ribbon. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date are bold. On the reverse, ONE CENT is bold, the shield lines are sharp and separate, and the oak wreath, bow and arrows show good detail. Light, even wear shows on the cheek, the hair over the ear and the high points of the wreath leaves.
Condition, please read: even medium brown. There are light hairline scratches on the obverse, mostly across the cheek and in the fields. A few small dark spots show on the neck below the jaw, in the field near the O of OF, and in the reverse wreath near the bow, along with a few light field marks. A thin light line at the left edge of the reverse, running from the rim into the wreath, shows in two of the reverse photos. Please look at all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 80,717,011
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.
The coin ships in a protective holder.
