Offered here is a 1905 Indian Head cent, struck in bronze at the Philadelphia Mint, from the later years of this classic series designed by James B. Longacre.
Grade: XF (Extremely Fine). LIBERTY is complete and readable on the headband. The headdress feathers are all separated with center lines showing on most of them, the ribbon is separate from the hair, and the date and legends are bold. The reverse is a strong point, with sharp, separate shield lines, leaf detail in the oak wreath and a crisp bow and arrows. Full rims with clear denticles.
Condition, please read: a thin scratch runs through the obverse field from the S of STATES toward the headband, with a few other light marks from circulation on the cheek and fields. There are scattered dark spots on both sides, and small areas of green (verdigris) in the recesses of the reverse wreath. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Denomination: 1 Cent
Mintage: 80,717,011
Ungraded and uncertified. The approximate grade is our opinion only. THE COIN SHOWN IS THE EXACT COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE.
