Offered here is a 1903 Indian Head cent, struck in bronze at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). A genuine 123 year old United States cent with the oak wreath and shield reverse.
Grade: XF (Extremely Fine). Nearly full feather detail with center lines and barbs on the feathers, and the hair curls and ribbon stand clear of the surrounding hair. LIBERTY is complete on the headband, a little soft in spots, with some diamond detail on the ribbon. On the reverse the oak leaves show their veins, the shield lines are sharp with only slight blending, and the bow and arrows are crisp. Full rims and denticles all the way around, and a bold date and legends.
Condition, please read: there are a few small verdigris (green) spots on the obverse near UNITED STATES by the rim, a few small dark spots and marks on the reverse near ONE and on the right side of the wreath, and light contact marks consistent with circulation. Even medium brown color. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 85,092,703
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.
The coin ships in a protective holder.
