Offered here is an 1896 Indian Head cent, struck in bronze at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark), a genuine 19th century penny over 125 years old.
Grade: Good+. An upper-end Good with full rims on both sides. The date is bold and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is complete and clear. The feathers are fully outlined and separate from the head, with no LIBERTY on the headband, as expected in Good. The reverse shows clear vertical lines in the shield, a bold ONE CENT and an outlined oak wreath with some leaf texture.
Condition, please read: even medium brown with darker toning in the recesses and natural, lightly granular surfaces. There are a few small green verdigris specks around the feathers and in the reverse wreath, a tiny light spot near the back of the neck, and light marks consistent with circulation, including a few faint lines across ONE. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Denomination: 1 Cent
Mintage: 39,057,293
Ungraded and uncertified. The approximate grade is our opinion only. THE COIN SHOWN IS THE EXACT COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE.
