Offered here is a genuine 1895 Barber (Liberty Head) dime in 90% silver. 1895 is one of the scarcest years in the Barber dime series: all three mints struck low numbers that year (Philadelphia 690,000, New Orleans 440,000, San Francisco 1,120,000).

Mint mark: cannot be determined. The mint mark on Barber dimes is on the reverse below the wreath, and that area of this coin is worn smooth, so we do not claim any particular mint. The coin is sold as an 1895 dime only.

Grade: Fair-AG. The obverse is About Good: Liberty's head is fully outlined, the date 1895 is bold, and AMERICA is clear, with the rim worn into parts of UNITED STATES OF at the top. The reverse has been worn or smoothed nearly flat, with only faint traces of ONE DIME and the wreath remaining.

Condition, please read: in fairness, the reverse appears to have been smoothed and is nearly blank. Near its center there is a crescent-shaped gouge and a small round punch mark; the punch mark does not go through the coin (the obverse shows no hole). Both sides show scattered scratches and marks from circulation and handling. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.

Year: 1895
Mint: not determinable (reverse smoothed)
Composition: 90% silver, 10% copper (0.07234 oz silver)
Condition: ungraded, raw coin

The coin ships in a protective holder.
