Offered here is a 1894 Indian Head cent from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). With about 16.8 million struck, 1894 has the lowest mintage of any Indian cent from the 1880s and 1890s and is a well known better date in the series.

Grade: VF (Very Fine) details. The reverse is the strong side: the vertical shield lines are sharp and separate, ONE CENT is bold, and the oak wreath shows most of its leaf detail, with the ribbon bow and arrow tips distinct. On the obverse the feathers are outlined and separated with internal detail showing, the headband and ribbon are outlined, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date are bold with full rims and denticles all the way around. LIBERTY on the headband is not readable because of the surface condition described below, which is why this is called VF details rather than a straight VF.

Condition, please read: the obverse has environmental damage: green verdigris spots and light pitting cover much of the portrait, headdress and fields, with a granular surface. The reverse is much cleaner, medium to dark brown with a few small green spots in the wreath. No rim damage seen. Please look at all the photos, which are the best description.

Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 16,752,132
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.

The coin ships in a protective holder.
