Offered here is a well-detailed 1891 Indian Head cent, struck in bronze at the Philadelphia Mint (Indian cents carry no mint mark before 1908).

Grade: XF (Extremely Fine). All letters of LIBERTY are present on the headband, with a few softer in places. The feathers show their center lines and barbs, with wear mainly on the tips, and the ribbon is separated from the hair. On the reverse the shield lines are clear and unblended and the oak wreath keeps its leaf detail, with wear on the highest points of the leaves and bow. Bold date and full denticles.

Toning: even chocolate brown obverse; the reverse shows attractive iridescent gold, olive and violet toning through the wreath and around ONE CENT.

Condition, please read: a few light hairline scratches in the obverse field, mostly to the right of the feathers near OF AMERICA, and a small copper-orange spot on the hair below the ribbon. Scattered light marks from circulation. No rim damage seen. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.

Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Denomination: 1 Cent
Mint: Philadelphia

Ungraded and uncertified. The approximate grade is our opinion only. THE COIN SHOWN IS THE EXACT COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE.
