1891 Indian Head Cent Penny 1C VF Very Fine Bronze Philadelphia 19th Century
Offered here is an 1891 Indian Head cent, struck in bronze at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). A 135-year-old piece of 19th century American coinage with good eye appeal for the grade.
Grade: VF (Very Fine). The headband and LIBERTY show, with parts of the lettering weak. Most of the feather detail is visible, with center lines and separations on many feathers, and the ribbon is starting to separate from the hair. On the reverse the shield lines are mostly separate and the oak wreath shows some fine leaf detail. Bold date, full rims and denticles.
Condition: the surfaces are somewhat rough and granular, with mottled darker brown toning, and there are a few light marks on the cheek and neck. No rim damage seen. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 47,072,350
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.
The coin ships in a protective holder.
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
