1891 Indian Head Cent 1C VF Very Fine Iridescent Toned Purple Blue Gold Penny

Designed by Chief Engraver James B. Longacre, the Indian Head cent was struck from 1859 to 1909. From 1860 the reverse carried an oak wreath with a small shield.

This 1891 grades about Very Fine: some letters of LIBERTY show on the headband, the feathers and wreath are well detailed, and the shield lines are clear.

The Indian side shows attractive natural iridescent toning - purple, blue and gold over brown. A few light marks in the fields.
