Offered here is a 1890 Indian Head cent from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark), a genuine 19th century American cent more than 135 years old.
Grade: VF (Very Fine). The feathers keep most of their detail, the headband is complete with both edges showing, and LIBERTY can be read on the band (the letters are worn and shallow; the angled-light obverse photo shows them best). On the reverse the shield lines are mostly separate and the oak wreath, bow and arrows show good detail with even wear. Bold date and legends, with full rims and denticles all the way around.
Condition, please read: the surfaces are a mottled chocolate brown with lighter copper patches and scattered darker spots on both sides, most noticeable on the portrait and in the obverse fields. There are a few light marks typical of circulation, and a small thin mark near the rim at 12 o'clock, just above the feather tips. Please look at all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Mintage: 57,180,114
Condition: ungraded, raw coin. The grade is our opinion only.
The coin ships in a protective holder.
The coin shown is the exact coin you will receive.
