Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) with no wear on Liberty’s cheek or hair and full feather detail on the eagle. Bright, frosty luster with some light toning near the rim on the reverse. Please review all photos; the coin shown is the exact coin you will receive. The 1883-O has a mintage of 8,725,000, and it is the most sought-after New Orleans Morgan in high grades. In the 1880s the New Orleans Mint struck millions of Morgans that were stored in bags in the Treasury, so uncirculated 1883-O dollars survive in good numbers and make a classic, affordable O-mint Morgan with real eye appeal. Each coin is 90% silver and 10% copper with 0.7734 troy ounce of pure silver. About the series: the Morgan dollar was designed by U.S. Mint engraver George T. Morgan and first struck in 1878 under the Bland-Allison Act. Hundreds of millions were melted under the Pittman Act of 1918, so every surviving Morgan is a genuine piece of Old West history.
