1883 Indian Head Cent Penny 1C About Good AG Bronze 1800s Philadelphia Mint
Offered here is an 1883 United States Indian Head Cent in bronze, struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). Approximate grade: About Good (AG). The Indian's portrait and feathered headdress are outlined and the date is readable. The obverse lettering (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) has worn down into the rim, which is what holds the grade at About Good. The reverse is stronger and grades Good on its own: ONE CENT is bold, the shield lines show and the oak wreath is fully outlined.
Please note: brown color with granular, porous surfaces and scattered small orange-red spots on the obverse, including one on the cheek. Light scratches on the obverse and a faint line in the reverse left field. No rim dings seen. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Denomination: 1 Cent
Mintage: 45,598,109
Ungraded and uncertified. The approximate grade is our opinion only. THE COIN SHOWN IS THE EXACT COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE.
