Designed by George T. Morgan and first struck in 1878, the Morgan dollar was made from silver mined in the great Western strikes like Nevada’s Comstock Lode. The San Francisco Mint was known for sharp strikes, and the 1881-S is one of the most available Morgan dates — an affordable way to own a large, classic piece of 90% silver history.
