Offered here is a genuine 1877 Seated Liberty quarter, the With Motto type with IN GOD WE TRUST on the ribbon above the eagle (1866-1891). A 90% silver quarter dollar that circulated for well over a century, and an affordable way to add this classic 19th century design to a type set.
Grade: About Good (AG). The date 1877 is bold and complete, and Liberty, her pole and the shield are fully outlined, with several stars still visible on the right side. The reverse is more heavily worn: the eagle, wings, shield and motto ribbon show in outline, while the lettering has worn into the rim. The obverse alone is close to Good.
Mint mark: the area below the eagle is worn smooth, and we cannot determine a mint mark from our photos. 1877 quarters were struck at Philadelphia, San Francisco and Carson City. It is sold as an 1877 with the mint undetermined.
Condition, please read: there are scattered scratches and marks on both sides, including a small group of lines to the right of Liberty's head, and a few small dark spots in the fields. Even gray color. No bends or holes. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
