Offered here is a genuine 1877 Seated Liberty half dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint nearly 150 years ago. This is the With Motto type, with IN GOD WE TRUST on the ribbon above the eagle, and a full-size 90% silver half dollar from the Seated Liberty series that ran from 1839 to 1891.
Grade: Good. Liberty, her pole and cap, and the shield are boldly outlined, all 13 stars are clear, and the date 1877 is bold and complete. LIBERTY on the shield is worn away, as is usual at this grade. On the reverse the eagle, shield lines, olive branch, arrows and the motto ribbon are outlined, and HALF DOL. is bold. The tops of some letters in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are worn into the rim. Obverse rim is complete.
Condition, please read: there are scattered light scratches and marks on both sides, mostly on Liberty and in the obverse fields, typical of a coin that circulated for years. There is a tiny rim nick on the reverse below HALF DOL. Even gray color. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
