Offered here is a genuine 1877-CC Seated Liberty half dollar, struck at the famous Carson City Mint in Nevada, the Old West mint built to coin silver from the Comstock Lode. This is the Small CC mint mark variety; the CC is clear below the eagle (see the close-up photo). Carson City coins are among the most collected in American numismatics, and the mint operated only from 1870 to 1893.

Grade: Good. Liberty, her pole and cap, and the shield are boldly outlined, the stars are visible, and the date 1877 is bold and clear. LIBERTY on the shield is worn away, as is usual at this grade. On the reverse, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is readable, the eagle, shield lines, olive branch and arrows are outlined, and the CC mint mark is sharp. HALF DOL. is worn and partly merges with the rim at the bottom.

Condition, please read: there are numerous light scratches and hairlines across the obverse, mostly on Liberty and the right field, plus scattered light marks on the reverse, as expected on a coin that saw long circulation. A tiny green spot is visible near the eagle's neck. Even gray color. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
