Offered here is an 1876 Indian Head cent, struck in bronze at the Philadelphia Mint. With a mintage of just 7,944,000, the 1876 is a recognized semi-key date and one of the tougher dates of the 1870s.
Grade: VG (Very Good). Bold date and complete legends with full rims and denticles on both sides. Every feather is outlined with some detail above the bases. The reverse is a strong side, with clear shield lines and a well outlined oak wreath, bow and arrows. LIBERTY on the headband is not readable in our photos.
Condition, please read: dark brown with rough, porous surfaces on both sides, small pits (including on the headband, in front of the face and in the wreath) and darker deposits near the rims. Lighter copper shows on the high points. No rim dings seen. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Denomination: 1 Cent
Mintage: 7,944,000
Ungraded and uncertified. The approximate grade is our opinion only. THE COIN SHOWN IS THE EXACT COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE.
