Offered here is an 1876 Indian Head cent, struck in bronze at the Philadelphia Mint. With a mintage of under 8 million, 1876 is one of the scarcer semi-key dates of the bronze Indian cent series, from the nation's centennial year.

Grade: Very Fine (VF). Full rims on both sides with a bold date and complete legends. The feathers show strong outlines and center veins with most of their detail, and the reverse has a sharp shield with clear vertical and horizontal lines and an oak wreath showing fine leaf detail, bow and arrows. The headband is outlined, but LIBERTY is weak, with some letters faint in our photos.

Condition, please read: uneven medium to dark brown toning with reddish areas. There are a few dark spots on the cheek and on the reverse, a small bright copper-colored spot near the neck and another below CENT, and a thin hairline scratch on the reverse running from the left side of the shield down toward ONE (best seen in the angled reverse photo). No rim damage seen. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.

Composition: bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc)
Denomination: 1 Cent
Mintage: 7,944,000

Ungraded and uncertified. The approximate grade is our opinion only. THE COIN SHOWN IS THE EXACT COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE.
