1875 Seated Liberty Dime 10C 90% Silver Philadelphia Legend Obverse Toned XF

Offered here is a genuine 1875 Seated Liberty dime from the Philadelphia Mint, 90% silver and over 150 years old. It is the Legend obverse type, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around Liberty, and 1875 is the first year after the arrows were removed from the date.

Grade: Extremely Fine (XF), high end. LIBERTY on the shield reads in full, with the L present, best seen under the angled lighting in the first two photos. Liberty's gown folds and the shield lines show under the angled light, with wear on the high points. The date is bold and the rims are full. On the reverse, ONE DIME is clear and the wreath is fully outlined with the bow showing.

Toning, and why the photos look different: this coin changes a lot with the light. Under straight-on lighting (photos three and four) it looks dark gray and mottled, with lighter gray on Liberty and a blotchy pattern across the reverse. Under angled lighting (photos one, two, five and six) the same surfaces show much lighter and silvery, with faint blue and pink iridescence in the obverse fields. Both sets are the same coin; please view all of them.

Condition, please read: there are rim bumps and small nicks on the obverse rim at the top and right, and small rim marks on the reverse at the lower right. There are a few light scratches in the obverse field to the right of Liberty and near the date, and the surfaces are slightly granular. The photos are the best description.
