1869 Three Cent Nickel G-VG Good to Very Good 3c Liberty Head Coin Civil War EraThe three cent nickel was introduced in 1865 when silver and gold had vanished from circulation during the Civil War. Its Liberty head and Roman numeral III reverse make it one of the most distinctive small coins of the 1800s. This exact 1869 coin grades Good to Very Good, with LIBERTY mostly worn but a clear date and bold III on the reverse. It has an even gray nickel color with light scattered marks and a small rim nick at the upper right of the obverse. Please see the close-up photos.
