1858-O Seated Liberty Half Dime VG Very Good New Orleans 90% Silver H10C CoinThe Seated Liberty half dime was the smallest silver coin of its day, a tiny 90% silver piece that circulated through the pre–Civil War years. Christian Gobrecht’s design shows Liberty seated with shield and pole, with HALF DIME inside a wreath on the reverse. The 1858-O was struck at the New Orleans Mint, with a mintage of only 1,660,000, and the O mintmark sits just below the wreath bow. This exact coin is honestly worn in the Good to Very Good range: the seated figure, stars and date are clear, and LIBERTY on the shield is worn. In fairness to the buyer, there are heavy hairline scratches on both sides, which look like an old cleaning. The O mintmark is clear on the reverse.
