1858 Flying Eagle Cent VG TONER Iridescent Blue Green Purple Gold 1c US CentThe Flying Eagle cent was America’s first small cent, struck for circulation only in 1857 and 1858 before the Indian Head design replaced it. Its soaring eagle, adapted from the Gobrecht dollar, makes it one of the most admired designs of the 1800s and a required coin for any US type set. This exact coin is a toner in the Very Good range, with iridescent blue, green, purple and gold color. Please note: there are numerous long scratches across the obverse running through the eagle and the date, and more scratches on the reverse. We have not attributed it to a Large or Small Letters variety. Please judge from the photos.
