1857 Seated Liberty Half Dime H10C VG-F 90% Silver Toned Pre Civil War Type Coin

Christian Gobrecht's Seated Liberty design, showing Liberty seated with a shield and pole, appeared on U.S. silver coins from 1836 to 1891. The half dime - a silver five-cent piece - was struck until 1873.

This 1857 was struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mintmark under the bow). It grades about VG-F: full rims, a bold date, and clear stars and gown outline, with LIBERTY on the shield mostly worn. The reverse is stronger, with a sharp wreath and HALF DIME.

Light iridescent blue and violet toning on both sides. Please note some hairline scratches across Liberty and a small dark spot on the reverse rim near the R in AMERICA.
