1857 Seated Liberty Half Dime H10C AU About Unc 90% Silver Pre Civil War CoinThe Seated Liberty half dime, designed by Christian Gobrecht, was America's tiny silver 5-cent piece before the nickel existed. This 1857 Philadelphia issue was struck four years before the Civil War — a genuine piece of antebellum America that fits on a fingertip. This exact coin is a premium example: only the lightest friction over the high points, strong luster in the fields, full bold LIBERTY on the shield, and crisp drapery and wreath detail, consistent with the About Uncirculated letter grade. High-grade raw Seated material like this is getting hard to find.
