1853 Three Cent Silver Trime Type I F Smallest US Silver Coin Pre Civil War 3cThe three cent silver piece, or “trime,” is the smallest silver coin the United States ever struck — a tiny 14 mm sliver of 75% silver made to buy a single postage stamp. The 1853 is a Type I issue, with the clean single-outline star that collectors associate with the first years of this odd and historic denomination. This exact coin wears the Fine letter grade honestly: the shield inside the star is complete and sharp, the bold Roman numeral III on the reverse stands out crisply among full ornaments, and the legends remain readable the whole way around with softness at the left rim. A characterful example of a coin most people have never even heard of — a conversation piece and a type-set hole-filler in one.
Ungraded and uncertified. The approximate grade is our opinion only. THE COIN SHOWN IS THE EXACT COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE. |
BOURNE2TREASURE
WHO WE AREBourne2Treasure is a family-owned business based in Dayton, TN, proud to be celebrating our 25th year in operation. Along the way we’ve earned over 27,000 pieces of feedback as a seller.
SHIPPINGEvery coin we sell ships in protective packaging — no exceptions. The exact container depends on the shipping class: for example, our Standard Envelope option is limited to a maximum of 1/4" thickness, so a bubble mailer isn’t used there. Instead, coins travel in a vinyl flip, a thick baggie, or a cardboard flip, whichever best protects that particular coin. We ship daily, Monday through Friday, excluding all USPS holidays.
RETURNS / GUARANTEEWe maintain (unless otherwise noted on items like bullion) a 30-day, FREE-to-you return policy. All we want is happy customers — if you don’t like what we send, just send it back, free of charge.
QUESTIONS? CONTACT USContact us Monday–Friday, 9–5 EST, with any questions or concerns. Our number one goal is happy customers who buy from us time and time again. If you ever have an issue, please let us know — and remember, our return policy above has you covered.
GRADING DISCLAIMERWe arrive at an approximate grade using a combination of our own years of experience and, increasingly, Artificial Intelligence (AI). We are not a professional grading service, and any grade shown is only an approximation — please make your own determination based on the photos provided.
